Tournament Rules
Rules for the Bradford Storm Minor Mosquito Rep Tournament!

 

Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) Rules shall apply. Subject to any exceptions as indicated in the following rules.

  1. Tournament is broken into three (3) divisions consisting of four (4) teams in each division.
  2. Each team will play three (3) games against teams in their division.
  3. Standings will be determined by the numbers of points earned (2 for a win, 1 for a tie & 0 for a loss).
  4. Games to start promptly on time as per schedule. There is a 15-minute grace period on the 1st games played on Friday.
  5. No infield warm ups.
  6. No new inning to start after 1hr 45 mins of play.  O.B.A. mercy rule to apply.  In the event of a tie during the preliminary rounds only the tie will stand. 
  7. All semi-finals and finals will be played until there is a winner declared.
  8. Championship game is to be seven innings in length with no time limit.
  9. If the home team is leading when curfew is reached in the bottom of the fifth or subsequent innings the game is stopped and the score at the time stands.
  10. Official Game: Per OBA P7.3m) A 7 inning game will be considered a complete game after 4 innings of play or 3 1/2 innings if the home team is ahead.
  11. For all round robin games, the home team to be decided by the flip of a coin.  The team traveling the farthest will call the toss for all games.  For the semi-finals and finals, the higher seed determines home and away status.
  12. The home team is to keep the official score and hand back the game sheet to the Convenor at the end of the game signed by the managers of both teams.
  13. The official pitch count will be kept by the visiting team. O.B.A. pitching rules will be strictly enforced.
  14. Line up cards must be presented prior to the game.
  15. The top team in each division will advance to the final.  In addition, one wild card team will advance (based on OBA tie breaker rules below).
  16. Semi-Finals:  The highest seeded team of the 3 divisions will play the Wild Card, the second and third highest seeded teams will play each other.
  17.  Any protest will be resolved on the field by the Tournament Convenor.  There will be no protest of an umpire's judgment call.
  18. Teams are not permitted to take lead offs.  As per OBA P2.11 (a), base runners cannot leave the base until the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand. If an infraction occurs, the ball will be declared dead and runners may not advance. 1 warning will be issued and for any further infractions thereafter, the runner will be called out. (Each team to receive 1 warning).
  19.  The home team for the finals will be the higher seeded team (i.e. division winner). If both teams in the finals are the division winners, or both are 2nd place finishers, then the home team will be decided by a coin flip - team farthest away making the call.
  20. Any player, coach or manager ejected by an umpire from the sanctioned tournament game is suspended for 1 game, and this to be the next scheduled game in that tournament.
  21. The tournament schedule may be revised in case of rain or other delays.
  22. Managers and coaches are responsible for the conduct of anyone involved with their team.
  23. Tournament awards will be set at sixteen (16) per team.
  24. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages are permitted in the parks.
  25. Bradford Minor Baseball Association and its officials accept no responsibility for any injuries to anyone in the parks during the tournament.
  26. No bat boys/girls unless they are on your roster and must wear helmet and closed toe shoes.
  27. The following tie breaking rules will be used for each placement independently:
  • Teams with a forfeit loss are ineligible for tiebreakers;
  • head to head record among tied teams;
  • team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in games among tied teams;
  • team with the smallest runs against ratio (runs allowed / number of defensive innings played) in all games;
  • team with the highest runs for ratio (runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in games among tied teams;
  • team with the highest runs for ratio ( runs scored / number of offensive innings played) in all games;
  • coin toss x) When there are 3 or more teams tied, the tiebreakers will exclude RP7.3 (w) (ii). After the winner of that tie breaker is determined, the tiebreakers will continue, if necessary, excluding RP7.3 (w) (ii) as long as there are 3 or more teams tied. When only 2 teams remain, the tiebreaker will start at RP7.3 (w) (i).
